DID YOU KNOW?

Mirage® geomembrane is formulated to reflect incoming solar radiation to reduce surface temperatures and, in floating-cover applications, minimize thermal conditions that contribute to water evaporation.

Mirage® combines this performance with proven weather resistance, flexibility, and chlorinated water tolerance. Its inherent characteristics accommodate large-scale installation.

The smarter approach to geomembrane performance begins at the surface when you use Mirage®.

PERFORMANCE BEYOND REFLECTIVITY

Designed for the most demanding outdoor applications
Dark surfaces were never built for constant sun exposure. That’s exactly why Mirage® was formulated for reservoir covers, potable basins, and open-air lagoons where the most stress is placed on geomembranes.

WEATHERING RESISTANCE

Mirage® incorporates a proprietary UV stabilizer and antioxidant package and that has been tested with 10,000 hours of accelerated Xenon-arc weathering.

Testing evaluated the membrane’s ability to withstand prolonged exposure to simulated outdoor weather conditions.

FLEX-FATIGUE PERFORMANCE

Large geomembranes must withstand handling across vast expanses, installation in the field, and geothermal movement.

Mirage® has been evaluated using ASTM D6182 flex-fatigue testing which demonstrated durability through repeated flex cycles.

CHLORINATED WATER RESISTANCE

Mirage® has been tested under GRI-GM34 protocols involving exposure to chlorinated water concentrations ranging from 10 to 200 ppm.

Testing demonstrated strong tensile retention with no observed cracking under the tested conditions.

POTABLE-WATER CONTACT

Mirage® is NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certified for applications involving drinking-water contact, making it suitable for projects where regulatory requirements for potable-water containment apply. This independent certification confirms the material does not leach harmful contaminants into water at levels of health concern.

Economic Benefits

– Cost Savings: Reducing water loss through evaporation lowers costs for water management in agriculture, industry, and municipal water supplies.

– Improved Water Availability: Ensuring more water remains available supports local economies, especially in regions where water is a critical resource.

Climate Change Mitigation

– Adaptation Strategies: With climate change increasing evaporation rates, implementing measures to reduce evaporation is part of adaptation strategies for sustainable water management.

The Most Sustainable Way to Reduce Evaporation

Covering the water surface is the most effective method to reduce evaporation. The Mirage Geomembrane is engineered to excel as a floating cover. Designed for large bodies of water and easily adaptable for any project, it reflects solar radiation and prevents evaporation. Durability and longevity are engineered into Mirage Geomembranes meaning you will not need to replace or repair this product very often.

MIRAGE® APPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES

water treatment

WATER STORAGE AND CONTAINMENT

Mirage® is particularly well suited for applications where the geomembrane is exposed to intense sunlight and where controlling heat and evaporation is an operational criteria.
Floating Covers Geomembrane Application

FLOATING RESERVOIR COVERS

Mirage® is perfect as a floating cover to shield stored water from direct solar exposure while providing a durable barrier between the water and surrounding environment.

POTABLE WATER STORAGE

For drinking-water reservoirs and other potable-water applications, Mirage® combines reflective performance with NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certification and documented chlorinated-water resistance.

EVAPORATION CONTROL

In hot, dry climates, evaporation creates a substantial loss of stored water. Incorporating Mirage® into floating-cover systems reduces exposure to environmental conditions that fuel evaporation.

WASTEWATER & TREATED WATER

Mirage® is a durable option for wastewater and treated-water containment where resistance to sunlight, weathering, and treated-water conditions is important.

FISH HATCHERIES & AQUATIC FACILITIES

Reflective floating covers manage solar exposure and water temperature while providing physicals barrier against debris and excessive sunlight.
