Frequently Asked Questions about LLDPE Geomembrane
What does LLDPE stand for?
LLDPE stands for Linear Low-Density Polyethylene. E Squared offers two variants: LLDPE-R (Reinforced) for general containment applications, and LLDPE-R FG (Reinforced Fish Grade), certified safe for direct contact with aquatic life in fish hatchery and aquaculture projects.
What is the difference between LLDPE-R and LLDPE-R FG?
LLDPE-R is E Squared’s standard reinforced geomembrane liner for general containment. LLDPE-R FG is the Fish Grade variant — formulated and certified specifically for fish hatcheries and aquaculture ponds where the liner comes into direct contact with fish and aquatic life.
What applications is LLDPE geomembrane best suited for?
LLDPE geomembrane is ideal for fish hatcheries, aquaculture ponds, secondary containment, water storage reservoirs, waste containment, and environmental protection projects. Its flexibility makes it especially well-suited for irregular terrain and projects requiring close conformance to subgrade contours.
How does LLDPE compare to HDPE geomembrane?
LLDPE offers significantly greater flexibility than HDPE, making it easier to install on uneven surfaces without the need for heat. It also provides higher elongation and puncture resistance. HDPE is generally preferred for large flat installations where rigidity and chemical resistance are the priority.
Is LLDPE geomembrane available in different thicknesses and configurations?
Yes. E Squared’s LLDPE-R and LLDPE-R FG geomembranes are available in multiple configurations and thicknesses to match your project requirements. Download our technical data sheets or contact our team for full specifications.
How long does an LLDPE geomembrane last?
Service life depends on application, installation conditions, and environmental exposure. LLDPE geomembranes in buried or covered applications can last 30–50 years or more. For exposed installations, E Squared products include UV stabilizers to extend outdoor performance, though burial is recommended for maximum longevity.
